In Ayurveda, Snuhi (Euphorbia nerifolia) is a cactus-like plant, often called the Indian Spurge Tree or Milk Hedge because of its milky white sap.
Dr Varun Ram Raj says that it is traditional medicine for hundreds of years — mainly for skin problems, stubborn swellings, and certain digestive troubles. It’s also famous in Ayurvedic surgery for Kshar Sutra therapy to treat piles and fistula.
👉 According to Dr Varun Ram Raj snuhi is described as pungent and slightly bitter in taste, with a heating effect on the body. It helps reduce excess Vata (dryness, stiffness) and Kapha (mucus, heaviness), but can increase Pitta (heat) if used too much.
🟥 Where Snuhi is used in Ayurveda
👉For skin & wounds:
Warts and corns
Ringworm and fungal infections
Non-healing sores
👉For digestion & metabolism:
Chronic constipation
Worm problems in the intestines
Indigestion and bloating
👉For pain & swelling
Joint pain (arthritis, gout)
Sciatica
Swelling in certain areas
⚠️Special Ayurvedic use:
In Kshar Sutra treatment for piles and fistula
As a local application to reduce swelling
🟥 Important safety note:
The milky sap of Snuhi can burn or irritate the skin and eyes if handled carelessly. It can also be poisonous if taken wrongly. That’s why Ayurveda advises using it only under the care of a qualified doctor.
💡 Remember: Snuhi is powerful, but not for home experiments. Always get proper guidance before using it.
